Weekly visions - week 47, 2024

A rather begrudging week…

The poster for Takashi Shimizu's original *Ju-on*
Once again, not a lot to discuss about the past week - a couple of quick drink with friends, which still left me time to watch a few films (some of which were exceptionally short).

Where I start watching yet another J-Horror series of films

The poster for Guillermo del Toro's 2001 film *The Devil's Backbone*
Once again I’m very late with this round-up of last week’s films, but, in my defence, I’ve dedicated more time to writing this week - just not for this post. Anyway, let’s move on to my weekly visions.

Goodbye, Badtaste.it

Yep, I’m still deep in J-Horror

A non-triggering poster for Coralie Fargeat's *The Substance*
This week was mostly dedicated to an exercise in restraint, as I continued watching the films in Arrow’s J-Horror Rising collection (not an affiliated link) to decide whether to buy it or not. Spoiler alert; of the six films I’ve managed to watch (forget finding a movie called Persona that’s not the movie titled Persona), I really liked one and disliked three, so a purchase would be purely consumeristic.
Also spoiler alert; during the course of the week, the boxset sold out.
But then, a twist! It’s available again. But I’m still resisting it.

Superficial Impact

My submission for November’s IndieWeb Carnival

It’s curious that the theme of this month’s Indieweb Carnival, hosted by Xandra, is the idea of ‘impact’; I have been thinking a lot, lately, about the effect of me existing today, and what legacy I will leave when I’m gone.
